Keeping it real at Expo

Warehouses and apartments for rent as investment products, new sources of capital and the digital revolution in real estate – these were among the themes and buzzwords that dominated the latest Expo Real fair in Munich, which took place over three days in early October. The event was attended by a record number of guests and exhibitors – and Poland played no small part in this.

"We want to present here [Expo Real] the full range of our commercial properties and projects that we are developing in Poland including in Kraków, Wrocław, Warsaw, Gdańsk and the TriCity. We want to present our portfolio to potential investors and purchasers, as we want to sell them later on. We want to also present our brand new teams that are now working for us now in London and Berlin. These are offices we’ve just opened. These teams will be looking to find new investment partners in Berlin and London and will be responsible for setting up JV companies so we can create new projects together - retail, office or residential. We are here at Expo Real to improve our business contacts with financial institutions, funds, such as private equity and real estate funds – to give us a base on which we can put together future deals," said Daniel Draga of Cavatina Polska.

"This year’s fair is special, because, although it might sound a bit presumptuous, but we have been victims of our own success. The vast number of our plots in the Nowe Centrum Łódź district and in the centre were sold at previous fairs. Now we’re selling the plots we were unable to sell last time due to legal and administrative issues including the last plots around the Łódź Fabryczna railway station," said Adam Pustelnik, acting director, Investor Service and International Cooperation Bureau, City of Łódź.

"This year we’ve come to Expo as a start up of young lawyers. It is an absolute must to be here. It gives us the chance to meet investors that are not normally in Poland and it is also a chance to meet up with our partners that do work in Warsaw, but for whom there is never enough time when at home," told us Przemysław Kucharski, managing partner, Kucharski & Partners.

"We have come with the properties to be sold by the city of Warsaw. We came with nine partners, who are investors on the real estate market. The Expo Real venue is a real inspiration for us - it is a great fair centre. I hope we will be able in the coming years to develop such an exhibition centre in theWarsaw," said Piotr Sawicki, director, Economic Development Bureau, City of Warsaw.
