The hotel market is faced with one of its most difficult periods. This year will be a time of intensive work for hotel chains, which have been increasingly developing through the acquisition of existing facilities. What will hoteliers focus on? Is it better to invest in top-shelf hotels or focus on economy-class facilities? Besides, a lot of brands will be concentrating their efforts on the modernisation and renovation projects they have announced. Following the five years of preparations for Euro 2012, it is now one year after the event and time to sum it all up and draw some conclusions from the impact of the football championships on the Polish tourism and hotel market. It is also worth focusing on the development of technological tools, such as modern reservation systems, which have now become the basis of hotel operations on the internet. All these topics will be covered in discussions with experts at the 5th Hotel Investment Conference.

program

1215 - 1240 REGISTRATION AND WELCOME COFFEE AND TEA

1240 - 1300 CEE hotel market in the context of worldwide hotel trends
We are living in an extremely fast changing environment where decisions made solely on the basis of market evidence available today, may be outdated as soon as they are executed. Numerous new trends are arising with many of them being contradictory. Is there a way to ensure that we follow only the relevant trends in our market? What are these trends worldwide and which are likely to apply to the CEE markets? We will examine some of the prevailing trends in terms of guest demographics, the way guests book their accommodation and what they expect from their lodgings provider.

1300 - 1345 A pie to be divided
Hotel chains only have a 13 pct share of the Polish market; they include slightly more rooms i.e. 37 pct. Nowadays not only Hilton, Orbis/Accor and Best Western announce their expansion by way of franchising but also other main players are thinking about entering Poland. Will hotel chains eventually dominate the Polish market? More and more investors regard hotels as projects they would want to exit at some point. But would franchising be sufficient instead? Perhaps other forms of hotel cooperation, such as leasing and management, can expect to come into their own? What needs to be done in order to sell an existing facility well?

VISION HOTEL MANAGEMENT

1345 - 1430 Now the party’s over...
Has the tourism sector gained anything from Poland hosting Euro 2012? What is the foreign tourist traffic like almost a year later? And most importantly, how can we drive the hotel traffic back into cities using the infrastructure that now exists? The managers of the stadiums built for Euro 2012 reveal what they can do in this respect, while hoteliers look at what's left after Euro 2012.

1430 - 1515 Five versus two (a for-and-against discussion)
Economy class hotels are the most dynamically developing segment at the moment - because this is where the demand lies. Is there as much interest in luxury hotels? Which is the best investment - five or two stars? Which option has the best future prospects? And which is more profitable? Two different opinions, two different ways of looking at a hotel as an investment.

1545 - 1630 Technology in the service of hoteliers
Nobody should need any convincing about the importance of modern technology and the internet. Internet websites, Facebook profiles, reservation systems and mobile applications - all are examples of solutions which every hotel should have. How to skilfully use the potential of the internet and mobile tools? And how to move around in a virtual world populated with actual clients?

1630 - 1715 Hotel metamorphoses
The number of hotel modernisation projects being announced by investors has been growing. Hotels grow old and lose their fresh, attractive appearance quickly. How to renovate a facility so that it is both in keeping with the latest design and furbishing trends, and at the same time more efficient in terms of management? What is in fashion on the market at this time? What solutions will allow you to modernise a hotel and lower its operating costs? Do such possibilities even exist?
