SWITCH TO GREEN

Over 9,000 kg of harmful electro-waste was collected in Warsaw during a campaign organised by DTZ, Jones Lang LaSalle, Knight Frank, Skanska and Stena Recycling. E-waste was sold and the entire revenue was donated to the WWF Polska fund. This is but one initiative, which is of course important, but everyday care for the natural environment seems equally as significant. What other solutions are used by companies from the real estate industry and what are those used by city officials”

1300 - 1330 REGISTRATION AND WELCOME COFFEE

1330 - 1415 Urban challenges

The countdown has now started. Only 2,000 days are left until January 1st, 2019. Is this a little or a lot? What are city authorities doing to make their patches green and in keeping with EU directives? Thousands of use public utility buildings every day. How can money be saved on their operating costs? How to make them use less thermal and electrical energy, while being more eco-friendly at the same time.

1415 - 1500 Technology is power
Poland is the fastest growing solar market in Europe. In 2012 it was the second largest, after Germany, in terms of the area of solar collectors sold. Subsidies from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management are the driving force behind the development of the solar panel market. Does investment in energy-efficient products make sense in our climate? How long do you need to wait for a return on the investment? What new products have recently been marketed?

1500 - 1530 COFFEE BREAK

1530 - 1615 From manager to shop assistant
To make a shopping centre eco-friendly you need to design, furnish and operate the building in the right way. Its residents, i.e. tenants, should also think about the environment. Which solutions are used by facility managers and which used by the owners of malls? Who should acquire which certificate?

1615 - 1645 The power of choice
The German DGNB certificate and the French HQE. So far nearly all property owners have opted for securing either LEED or BREEAM certificates. Who is brave enough to use a different approach: a German or French certificate? What criteria need to be fulfilled in order to obtain them?

1645 - 1715 Apartments with a certificate
Are residential developers interested in certification? The first attempts have been made: there are some companies which apply for the eco-proofing. What to choose: LEED for Homes or perhaps the local MBJ2030 certificate? Is it worth investing in it at all? And are Polish consumers ready for paying extra for green solutions?
