Sosnowiec Outlet Centre

The Outlet Company founded by a Belgian developer, Liebrecht & wooD, and British developer, Tom Dootson have laid the cornerstone for their new building, Sosnowiec Outlet Centre. It will stand at the junction of two main roads, Kraków - Katowice and Czestochowa - Bielsko-Biała. The total space of Sosnowiec Outlet Centre will amount to 23,000 sqm, of which 9,000 sqm will be constructed during the first and the remaining 14,000 sqm during the second stage. The latter is expected to start one and a half years after the launch, and the total cost of the complex is estimated to reach EUR 30mln.
CB Richard Ellis, who are in charge of leasing the building, have so far managed to sign a pre-lease for around 50 per cent of the total space.

REMA 1000 changes hands

The supermarket chain REMA 1000 in Poland is about to change hands, according to a market source. The Norwegian company is to leave both the Polish and Slovakian markets, after twelve years of activity.
It is expected that the new owner will be an American investor, whose name has not yet been disclosed. At the moment there are 43 REMA 1000 shops in Poland of which 5 are franchises. The opening of the 44th in Legionowo near Warsaw, was scheduled for late March.

Two new Echo investments open

Developer Echo Investment has announced the opening of two new retail centres. On March 27th in Tczew in northern Poland, a 5,000 sqm scheme opened, in which the anchor tenants are Nomi with 2,300 sqm and the Rojalmarket supermarket with around 1,000 sqm. The second, somewhat bigger centre of 13,500 sqm in Pabianice, in central Poland, opened on April 2nd. The main tenants here will be a Hypernova hypermarket with 5,000 sqm and Nomi with 4,400 sqm.

Sopot centre's facelift

Northern Polish seaside town Sopot's local authority and private development and construction company Nederpol Development and Investment (NDI) are to pool their resources to reconstruct parts of the town centre, at a cost of EUR 16.3 mln.
The work will involve building a holiday home, a retail centre, multi-level parking and a road tunnel and will take thirty months to complete. Centrum Hafferna, a company set up by NDI and the local authority, will execute the construction work.

The Spanish in Szczecin

A retail centre is to be constructed by a Spanish developer, CR, in the square near Portowa Brama in Szczecin. The total cost of the enterprise has been calculated to reach PLN 400 mln and will be covered from the company's own funds (60 per cent) and bank loans.
Work will start any day now, as soon as the developer reaches agreement with TP S.A. as to the telephone network.

Portico in Kraków

Portico Galicia, a subsidiary of cinema complex developer, Portico Development, has been granted a permit to build a multifunctional complex on ul. Karmelicka in Kraków. The building will consist of a 195-room five-star hotel, a multiplex Silver Screen cinema and a 400-space car park. Construction, which should last 16 months, will start as soon as Apollo-Riga find a suitable firm to operate the hotel. If all goes according to plan this should be in the second half of this year.
