Mostostal Zabrze tries to steer clear of bankruptcy

In an attempt to avoid financial collapse, construction firm Mostostal Zabrze is to sell its shares in the successful road construction firm Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Inźynieryjnych (PRInż) based in Katowice. Five companies, mainly from outside Poland have expressed an interest in the possible investment, which would mean acquiring Mostostal Zabrze's 32 % stake. PRInż is reported to be in excellent financial condition; MZ however, desperately needs money to deter its creditors from filing for its bankruptcy.
A Puls Bizesu report has suggested that the German constructor Bilfinger Berger and the French Eiffage are looking into the possibility of investing in the road constructor. Another possible investor is the Swedish Skanska, and competition for PRInż is likely to be quite fierce, given its potential. It has already been responsible for large infrastructure projects and is busy constructing the next section of the A4 Gliwice-Katowice motorway.
