Harleys and headbangers

Events
After a day of smashing balls around, the players were able to finally take off their golfing caps and tennis headbands to let their hair down at the after-party that evening.

It was time to get down and boogie (or whatever word the kids these days use), because the theme for the evening was rock. Just like last year many of the gals at the party took advantage of the onsite hairdresser to sport the classic hairstyles of the late 50s and early 60s, while many of the guys turned up in leathers. At the entrance the guests were greeted with a whisky cocktail, and after being refreshed by this many of them went to the buffet to fuel up with food and lounge around outside in the warm summer air. Then the band came on stage. They call themselves K.A.C, which in a very loose translation means ‘the hangover’, and while they are obviously still very young they clearly have stardust in their eyes. Indeed, the lead singer already looks like a rock star with long blond frizzy locks and torn jeans, and he sounded like one too, being able to screech in tune and at high volume in a falsetto similar to Axl Rose. The band even covered a few Guns n’ Roses tracks later in the evening. Naturally the amps were turned up to ELEVEN. But they didn’t play for long because it was time to announce the winners of the day’s sporting contests. One by one the winners were called to the stage and were greeted with a few bars of AC/DC’s ‘Highway to Hell’ a pretty smile, prizes and the flashes of paparazzi cameras. And after all the trophies had been presented, we came to what was probably the star prize of the evening: the use of a Harley Davidson motorbike for a weekend, with the winner chosen by business card lottery. That turned out to be Pavel Šmíd, a board member of KKCG – IPM. Finally the band took to the stage once again to play all the monster heavy rock and light metal tracks of the 70s and 80s.

These superbly organised and supremely enjoyable events would not have been possible without the kind support of our sponsors: MBank (which was once again acting as the titular sponsor for both tournaments), while the bronze sponsor for the golf was SpacePlan. The sponsors of the golf awards were Komu Group, Golf Masters, Golf Help, City Park, Alan Dąbrowski Academy and Centrum Golfa. APP Projekt was the main sponsor for the tennis (following its role last year as associate sponsor) and Trebbi Poland (a first time sponsor) was associate sponsor. The awards sponsors for the tennis were Malinowy Dwór, Herrero Tennis Academy, Amazing, SIGG, Stimium, Recman, Solar, Calypso and Cushman & Wakefield. ν AH
