Louise Brooke-Smith

Louise Brooke-Smith has been appointed the president of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), an accreditation organization for land, real estate, construction and infrastructure professionals from around the globe. Brooke-Smith, the current RICS Commissioner for Disaster Management, has nearly 30 years of experience in the sector. In the past, she was as vice chair at the National Planning Forum and a chairwoman for Women in Property in the West Midlands. During her year-long presidency, Brooke-Smith will focus on three core areas: diversity, Africa and her professional specialisms, planning and land economics. Meanwhile, she will also continue to be involved in a Birmingham-based planning and development consultancy, Brooke Smith Planning, where she serves as director. The first female president in the Institution’s 146 year history is also a visiting fellow at Sheffield Hallam University and holds an Honorary Doctorate for services to surveying from Wolverhampton University.
