Weather affects hotel occupancy

Poles as well as residents of neighbouring countries more and more often opt for short and frequent excursions, the so-called prolonged weekends because their professional situation makes it impossible to go on longer, 2- or 3-week holidays. The decision about going away for a long weekend is to a large extent subject to the weather conditions, that is why a lot of hotel guests make the decision just before the departure. If forecasts are not optimistic, people simply do not go anywhere. Additionally, the information about bad weather results in cancelling reservations which were made one or two days before going way, which is the biggest problem of hotels located in resort towns. The influence of long weekends on the hotel industry for the hotels located in popular tourist destinations is of course positive – thanks to higher prices and higher occupancy. In the same period the hotels located in strictly business locations register strong decreases of occupancy and revenue. In our opinion the tourist hotel base in Poland is better and better both with regard to the number and the quality of services rendered. Facilities including an aqua park enjoy more and more interest, mainly due to the fact that they offer a lot of attractions which you can use when the weather conditions are not advantageous. Also a trend of Poles flying away to other European countries during long weekends can be observed, which results from an increasingly broader offer of cheap airlines.
