Psychology faculty design won by Paweł Graliński
The building has already received a building permit

POLAND The Arch Magic architectural studio has won the tender for the design of the building that is to house the University of Warsaw’s faculty of psychology.

The authorities of the university chose the design of architect Paweł Graliński. The project is to be built at Kampus Ochota UW, which is located between ul. Żwirki i Wigury, ul. Wawelska, ul. Grójecka and ul. Banacha. The futurist design includes a six-storey building with a useable area of 17,000 sqm and a car park with over 220 spaces. The roofs of all three lecture theatres will feature green terraces. A building permit has already been issued. Initially the designer of the project was to have been decided by an architectural competition held in 2007, the winner of which was the Kuryłowicz & Associates studio. However, the results of the competition were not binding, and so a tender was the eventual method chosen. Paweł Graliński is also the designer of another building already constructed at Kampus Ochota – the (CeNT I) modern tech centre. His other work includes: the Sadyba Best Mall shopping centre in Warsaw, Cinema City in Arkadia in Warsaw and the Manufaktura shopping and entertainment complex in Łódź, as well as Ghelamco’s Plac Vogla shopping centre in Warsaw, which is currently under preparation.
