Dekada expands at pace

“The last quarter was a time of work and preparation for the construction of new projects. We are currently preparing for the construction of Dekada Ciechanów, the opening of which is planned before the end of 2016. This will be the eleventh Dekada and the fourth that combines retail and transport functions. The modern and functional centre in Ciechanów with 2,400 sqm gla will include seven branded shops, its station section will consist of a waiting room and four covered bus bays,” explains Aleksander Walczak, the president of the board of Dekada.
“We are also negotiating with the authorities of the town of Nysa regarding the construction of a new project. Galeria Dekada in Nysa has been designed as a two-storey building with a leasable area of over 19,000 sqm, which will include app. 70 shops, several restaurants and cafés as well as a special entertainment area, including a multiplex. We are currently waiting for the approval of the local zoning plan. According to the schedule we expect to start the construction process in H2 2016 and the opening of the facility is planned for the final quarter of 2017,” adds Aleksander Walczak.
The company is simultaneously conducting work related to the preparation for the construction of railway stations integrated with the retail section in Konin and Mińsk Mazowiecki. They will be constructed in cooperation with the Polish State Railways (PKP) and its subsidiary – Xcity Investment. Three facilities which are celebrating their fifth anniversary this year – the Dekada shopping centres in Sieradz, Skierniewice and the integrated shopping and transport centre in Myślenice.
“We are in negotiations over the extension of leases with current tenants as well as new brands that will refresh our tenant mix. We are also preparing for the extension of the Dekada in Skierniewice. The current retail offer is characteristic of convenience facilities, allowing people to do quick and convenient shopping in one place. However, we are planning to extend the range with fashion, eateries and other services,” explains Aleksander Walczak.
