POLAND Austrian investor and developer Immofinanz is planning to build a Stop.Shop retail park on ul. Chylońska in Gdynia. The park, which has an area of 3,400 sqm, is being developed near a light rail station, a Lidl supermarket and an outdoor market. The investor plans to fulfil all the necessary formalities and administrative procedures related to the preparation of the project and the choice of general contractor by the end of this year, with the construction process planned to start at the beginning of 2017 at the latest. The opening has been scheduled for Q3 next year. Work on the architectural concept of the park and its leasing are now in progress. It has already been announced that the centre will include a Media Expert household appliances and audio/video equipment store (app. 710 sqm), a KiK fashion, accessories, textiles and household appliances shop (550 sqm) and a Cosmedica pharmacy (app. 200 sqm). “A number of key variables influenced our decision concerning the choice of this very location for our next Stop.Shop retail park. First of all, the results of our research have shown that Chylonia – the largest district of Gdynia in terms of the number of residents – has insufficient retail space. Furthermore, the location of the plot was very convenient, which was important in this case,” explained Joanna Pruszkowska, the head of the Stop.Shop Poland chain. The Stop.Shop network, which is owned by Immofinanz, comprises 57 retail parks in seven countries. The parks that have been opened in Poland are located in Legnica, Mława, Kętrzyn, Żary, Świnoujście and Szczytno. Two more are to be opened in 2017 – in Gdynia and Pułtusk.
