The tallest with the biggest

Technology
POLAND Philips Lighting has equipped the tallest office building in Poland – the Warsaw Spire – with a dynamic façade illumination consisting of over 88,000 individually programmed elements.

This is the largest such installation by Philips Lighting in the CEE region and employs the company’s own Color Kinetics system. Two LED installations have been fitted on the 220m skyscraper, arranged according to the iColor Flex Eto system with a width of 71m and a length of 39m. These include 70,000 energy efficient LED RGB diodes and occupy a total of eleven useable floors of the tower. The total contents display area on both parts of the installation exceeds 5,500 sqm, which could be compared to an area of a football pitch. As a result, the contents displayed at a height of 160m are visible from anywhere within a few kilometres radius. This is the largest system of its kind in the country. The implementation work, which took 1.5 years, involved 30 people from Philips and twelve partner companies. The total length of the wires used for the launch of the installation exceeded 12 km. The entire lighting system is interactive – it is possible to control it from a mobile phone or a special application.
