Groundwork moving on at KTW

Barrette piles have been placed in the earth underneath the foundation slab. Additionally, the still-exposed sections of the diaphragm wall are now being anchored and work has begun on reinforcing the foundation slab. “The first 53m tower crane is to be erected next week; it’s to be anchored in the foundation slab. Work is progressing on the insulating, the reinforcing and the pouring of the concrete for the subsequent sections of the foundation slab,” explains Wojciech Adam, a building site manager from Strabag, the project’s general contractor. Construction work on the first office building – KTW I, which started over 100 days ago, should take two years. However, after the first six months of the work, the foundations will have been laid on which two buildings should eventually stand including a three-level underground car park. The project is aiming for ‘Very Good’ BREEAM certification. The first building, which is to be 66m tall, will have 13 storeys and one underground level. Each floor will have an area of nearly 1,500 sqm. TDJ is also planning the second stage of the project – the KTW II building with a height of 133 metres and 31 floors. Tebodin Poland has been appointed by TDJ Estate to manage the KTW I project and provide investor supervision.
