Transport hub for Zielona Góra

Eurobuild CEE 15 March 2017
POLAND Skanska has been chosen to be the general contractor for a transport hub development in Zielona Góra.
The contract is worth app. PLN 20 mln. The investor behind the enterprise is the Zielona Góra Municipal Transport Company. Six bays for buses are to be built (three in each direction), four parking spaces for buses with fast battery charging, two waiting spaces for buses and a manoeuvring square. Furthermore, a parking area for bicycles is planned. The central part of the transfer hub will include a building comprising a passenger service centre, and rest and refreshment facilities for drivers and the staff working for the city transport system. The passenger service centre will include three cashiers, an information centre and a waiting room. Another building will be developed in the south-eastern part of the square with a waiting room, toilets and rest and refreshment facilities for drivers.

The transport hub will be connected to a railway platform. There will also be a covered footbridge connected to a passenger route along a viaduct. The project will also involve the redevelopment of the road layout. Car parks are to be created near the railway station with more than 100 spaces. The transport hub should be completed in March 2018 and forms part of a larger PLN 250 mln programme 75 pct financed by the EU and local funds as part of the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme.
