POLAND An extraordinary meeting of the Polish State Railways (PKP) on March 3rd took the decision to dismiss Mirosław Pawłowski from the position of the president of the board as well as Cecylia Lachor, Michał Beim and Marek Michalski as members of the board.
The new president of the board is Krzysztof Mamiński, who has been employed by PKP for 36 years. He is a graduate of the University of Szczecin, where he was awarded a master’s degree in economics. He also completed postgraduate studies in European management models at Leon Kozmiński University. He started working for PKP in 1980 at the IT centre of the Central Regional Directorate of the State Railways in Warsaw. In 1990 he was a member of the ‘Solidarity’ national committee and became the president of the national railway section of the ‘Solidarity’ trade union and president of the transport worker secretariat of the union. In 1998–2002 he sat on the board of PKP, where he was responsible for restructuring and employee issues. In 2012–2013 he acted as the proxy of the management of PKP responsible for social dialogue. On March 21st, 2016 Krzysztof became the acting president of the board at Przewozy Regionalne, before being appointed president of the company’s board on April 13th, 2016.
