Łódź zoning study available for viewing

27 July 2017

POLAND A study into the future zoning of Łódź has been made available for public viewing. The document that lays down the city’s future development until 2050 can be viewed until the 15th September and comments may be submitted until the 9th of October 2017.

“The comments of residents, institutions and organisations are to be used to make the document meet the needs of Łódź residents as best as possible,” says Wojciech Rosicki, one of the deputies to the mayor of Łódź.

The city is divided into three zones: a metropolitan, a general and a construction-free area. Each has been set aside for different purposes. “We want to apply the three ‘r’ rule in the metropolitan zone: restriction, ratio and revolution. We’re trying to avoid the devastation of the area, but transform it in a way that increases the comfort of inhabiting or visiting our city,” explains Robert Warsza, the director of the Municipal Urban Planning Studio. “We’re planning large areas with no new developments but they will be friendly areas for all residents. The road layout of the city is an important part of the study,’ he says. The study is available at the Municipal Urban Planning Studio at ul. Wileńska 53/55 and at consultation points in Łódź.
