AFI builds Brașov mall
ROMANIA AFI is building Brașov Mall, a 45,000 sqm shopping centre with 160,000 sqm gba in Brașov, with the future space already 80 pct commercialised.

This will be the third shopping centre to be developed by the company in Romania. Investment costs are estimated at EUR 120 mln with the project also to include two class A office towers with 25,000 sqm gla. The entire project is to be LEED ‘Gold’ certified. The mall is expected to open either at the end of 2018 or during the first quarter of 2019, depending on the speed of the work. “AFI Brașov represents a milestone in the company’s development strategy. We want to offer the city of Brașov and its inhabitants, but also to those who visit this beautiful tourist destination, the biggest and most modern shopping centre, located in the heart of the city. We are convinced that once finalised, the project will become the new city centre of Brașov and offer a great shopping experience. The perfect location, the connection of the main boulevard with all parts of the city and the exit towards Bucharest along with the access to public transportation makes this project an excellent mix for shopping, entertainment and leisure, which at the same time can answer the requirements of the local business and IT&C community,” says David Hay, the CEO of AFI Europe Romania. “The project will add about 2,000 new jobs to the city’s economy in addition to the new class A office buildings that will be attractive to a host of multinational IT&C companies”, added Hay. The mall is to have 1,700 underground parking spaces and will be anchored by a 6,500 sqm Carrefour hypermarket The centre will also have a cinema, a casino and a bowling alley.
