Aviation giants invest in Lower Silesia

POLAND Budimex is to build an aviation engine maintenance and repair centre in Środa Śląska for Xeos, a joint venture of Lufthansa Technik and GE Aviation, in a contract worth PLN 120.59 mln.

It will be the most technologically advanced facility in Poland to renovate turbojet engines. Construction work within the Legnica Special Economic Zone will begin this month and is to be completed in November 2018 with operations to begin in Q1 2019. The complex will consist of the main building which will house engine diagnostic equipment and other machinery an office building and other technical facilities. The total useable area will come to 26,000 sqm. Budimex is also to lay around 35,000 sqm of asphalt within the complex. The design is to be developed using BIM (Building Information Modelling).
