Topping off in Katowice

POLAND The first office building of the .Ktw complex under development by TDJ Estate has reached its highest point, which was celebrated with a traditional topping off ceremony including the laying of a symbolic wreath.

The ceremony at the .Ktw 1 construction site on al. Roździeńskiego 1 in Katowice was attended by the representatives of TDJ Estate, general contractor Strabag, construction supervisor Tebodin Poland and architectural firm – Medusa Group.

“The topping off ceremony was a giant step in the construction of the project. Thanks to the work and skills of all those involved in this project, the difficult construction work is on schedule, with no delays. As the investor, we are very much looking forward to the opening the office building in June 2018,” said Maciej Wójcik, the CEO of TDJ Estate.

The general contractor is now working on the glass steel and concrete façade and has currently reached the seventh storey. Finishing work inside the building is also well underway, while the underground parking facilities are 90 pct complete.

“Since the building is already almost completed, we are now concentrating on the interior finishing work, preparing the space for its future tenants,” said Marian Garczarczyk, the project’s director at TDJ Estate.

Soon the 78m K-2 crane is to be dismantled at which point construction work will begin on the new road layout.

The development, which is located near the “Spodek” Arena, will comprise two towers joined by an underground garage. The space will mostly be for offices with some retail and services including a cafeteria, a bank branch, a medical centre and a café.

TDJ Estate purchased the 0.7 ha site for PLN 29 mln and the city of Katowice approved the building permit on November 23rd 2015, which was awarded in December after the period for objections had elapsed.
