Dino tots up its profits

POLAND The Dino Polska chain of grocery store recorded consolidated sales revenue of PLN 2,018.4 mln in H1 2017 up 32 pct on the PLN 1,533.5 mln from the same period of the previous year.

Its net profit came to PLN 77.1 mln. The increased revenue was due to a larger number of shops and a 14.7 pct y-o-y growth in unit sales. In Q2 the Dino Group saw increased sales of 16.5 pct. Its EBITDA in H1 this year increased by 37 pct to PLN 166.2 mln. The Group recorded a net profit of PLN 77.1 mln up by 26 pct and its gross margin in H1 2017 increased by 0.2 percentage points. EBITDA came in at 8.2 pct 0.3 ppct higher y-o-y. At the end of June 2017 the Dino chain had 677 stores, 120 more than in June 2016. The group also secured 429 locations for new stores. In H 2017 they opened a total of 49 stores and in Q2 the chain opened 38. Dino is planning to have over 1,200 shops by the end of 2020. In April 2017 Dino Polska held an IPO valued at around PLN 1.65 bln. “The first half of the year has been a good period for the entire grocery retail market and for Dino. We have been rapidly increasing our sales and we have also seem rising profit levels. We’ve been regularly opening new store, increasing our scale of operations and we have reach high sales levels,” says Szymon Piduch, the CEO of Dino Polska. “In H2 of the year we want to considerably speed up the openings of new Dino shops,” he added.
