Green light for Dekada Nysa
The façade of the centre will include the 19th-century fence that surrounded the town gasworks
POLAND On August 9th 2017 the period for objections elapsed and the local zoning plan passed by the Town Council in Nysa at the beginning of July 2017 came into effect.

This plan will allow for the development of the Dekada Nysa shopping centre to be designed by JSK Architekci and construction work should begin soon. “We are currently preparing the construction design and we want to start demolition and surveying by the end of 2017,” says Aleksander Walczak, the president of the board of Dekada. “The construction will take around one a half years and the opening is planned for mid-2019. The architect for the final design of Dekada Nysa will be JSK Architekci which is best-known for its design of the National Stadium in Warsaw,” he adds. The façade of the centre will include the 19th-century fence that surrounded the town gasworks and is also to be made of weathering steel (steel with a rusted appearance) with ‘green walls’. The pre-war granite paving stones on ul. Drzymały are to be retained, while above the Dekada glazed passageway is to be built. The centre will have two retail floors with a total of around 20,000 sqm gla and over 90 retail outlets including restaurants and cafés as well as a multi-screen cinema. The centre is to be built in the centre of the town between the market square and the bus and railway stations. Leases have already been signed by: Rossmann, CCC, Martes Sport, Swiss, Briju, Yes, Quiosque, 4F and Grycan.
