Warsaw embankment winner chosen

POLAND The WXCA studio has won a competition to draw up an urban planning and architectural concept of the embankment of the river Vistula between Cypel Czerniakowski and Świętokrzyski Bridge in Warsaw, which a particular emphasis on the development of Skwer Tadeusza Kahla.
The first prize was awarded to design prepared by WXCA's team, which consisted of: Szczepan Wroński, Małgorzata Dembowska, Krzysztof Moskała, Krzysztof Herman, Paweł Wolanin, Aleksandra Adamczyk, Michał Lipiec, Piotr Łosek and Piotr Żółtowski. The jury appreciated the winning design firstly for ‘the urban character of the areas designed to make it possible to bring the city closer to the river in a way that reconciles the project with the various forms of greenery within the development area” as well as “the introduction of clear zoning for the development intensity between the city and the river” and the “possibility of holding events”. As well as the cash prize of PLN 80,000 the winner will also receive an invitation to single-source negotiations aimed at the design documentation of the project and the supervision of its construction. Visualisations have been prepared by Dot Design Studio.
