Tomek graduated from the faculty of modern languages at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, where he also started his journalist career in the late 1980s. He has worked in the real estate press since 2005, covering the residential market for ‘Eurobuild CEE’ magazine as well as the new technologies and property management sectors. Zonifero acts as a kind of office GPS
POLAND The Zonifero smartphone application has been developed by SoftwareHut to help employees find their bearings in a company’s office space and organisational culture – by acting as an office GPS.

“Large office buildings can resemble mazes and it is easy to get lost in them without an appropriate tool. Thanks to the use of beacons we Zonifero creates a system of landmarks to lead the user though the office space,” explains Robert Strzelecki, the vice-president of the TenderHut capital group, which includes SoftwareHut.

By using Zonifero you can find a kitchen, a toilet, a relaxation area or the offices of specific co-workers, as well as check the availability and book conference rooms, find a colleague’s phone number, check their current status (in the office/working remotely/on a business trip/absent) and ask them to contact you. The application also allows you to report a malfunction or suggest ideas for improving the office.

“All of this helps to facilitate the everyday functioning of the office,” claims Robert Strzelecki.

Zonifero can be connected with the lighting control system – thanks to the application the light can move together with an employee or be dimmed if they leave a room. The system has been introduced to the Paris branch of an American company that supplies laboratory equipment and software. Zonifero can also be used to support sales – potential clients visiting the office of the company can use the application to book a seat for presentations of the products or training sessions, and reach the location without any problems.
