Two interiors for NCKF
The design by NSMoonStudio was chosen by the jurors
POLAND Two Kraków-based studios – New Amsterdam and NsMoonStudio – have reached the finals of a competition for the interior of the National Centre for Film Culture [NCKF] in Łódź.

The revitalisation of a former power station building will cost around PLN 57 mln, with PLN 40 mln being financed by the EU. The National Centre for Film Culture intends to create a meeting place for all people interested film and audiovisual media. The NCKF is to work together with the National Audiovisual Institute, the Polish Film Institute and the National Film Archive. At the heart of the centre in Łódź there are to be modern museum exhibits that present the history of Polish cinema as well as the changes in audiovisual technology and filming. The competition is being held to find a design for the cinema, library and foyer areas as well as for three permanent exhibitions called Mechanical Eye, Cinema Matter and Polonia Cinema. Originally six companies entered the competition. The jurors awarded the highest score to the design by NsMoonStudio while the New Amsterdam design was chosen in the public vote. The winner is to be announced later this month. A detailed interior design is then to be completed by 2018 with work to begin soon thereafter. The centre is to be opened around the end of 2019.
