9 bln PLN for infrastructure

POLAND EU Funds are to help finance a number of Polish infrastructure projects including Warsaw’s second metro line, a railway tunnel in Łódź and new tramlines.

Contracts have been signed for 14 projects with a total value of PLN 8.8 bln including PLN 4.9 bln from the Infrastructure and Environment Programme in contracts that were signed on October 3rd. PLN 3 bln in EU financing has been secured for ten projects that should improve public transport while lowering emissions including the construction of two sections of Warsaw’s second metro line, the construction of new tramlines as well as a new tram and bus rolling stock. These projects have been planned for Warsaw, Kraków, Poznań and Bydgoszcz, Gliwice and Jaworzno. PLN 210 mln in EU subsidies have also been secured for roads in Warsaw and the reconstruction of the headquarters of the National Fire Service. A further PLN 1.75 bln is to be spent on rail links in Łódź and for projects in Lower Silesia.
