Guest house emerges from sanatorium
The building has been designed by Sarl Ciel Rouge Creation, MA Design and Fabrizio Gallinaro

LATVIA Skonto Būve has started work on the reconstruction of a sanatorium building at Ērgļu iela 2 in Jūrmala into a guest house.

The project involves the reconstruction of the existing building, which was built in 1975 as a sanatorium building, into a guest house. The sanatorium building stood empty for many years and will now be given a new look. The height of the building is to be 12m, while its total area will come to 4,700 sqm. New street lighting is also to be installed for the project. The new guest house will also feature a swimming pool with a retractable glass roof. A car park is to be created in the basement of the building. A historic pedestrian bridge across Ērgļu iela is also to be reconstructed and improvements made to the greenery of the building’s surroundings.

The design of the building has been prepared by French studio Sarl Ciel Rouge Creation and has been adapted in Latvia by MA Design, while Italian architect Fabrizio Gallinaro has also been brought in for the technical side of the work. Seagull Investments is the investor behind the project, which should be completed next year.
