Eurobuild CEE 09 November 2017
722 mln for S19
The S19 will form part of the Via Carpathia route
POLAND The General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways [GDDKiA] has handed out contracts for the construction of three sections of the S19 road in south-eastern Poland.
The entire project is to construct a section between the end of the Kraśnik bypass and the Lasy Janowskie junction on the boundary of the Lublin and Podkarpackie provinces. This will involve the design and construction of the 33 km section of S19 expressway and is divided into three sub-projects. The section between the Kraśnik South and Janów Lubelski North junctions (app. 18 km) is to be built by Strabag and Strabag Infrastruktura Południe in a contract worth PLN 390 mln.

The Janów Lubelski bypass (app. 7 km), meanwhile, is to be designed and built by Mota-Engil Central Europe for PLN 148.5 mln. The section between the Janów Lubelski South and Lasy Janowskie junctions (app. 8 km) will be carried out by Strabag and Strabag Infrastruktura Południe for PLN 183.6 mln. The entire section between Kraśnik and Lasy Janowskie is to be built as an expressway capable of being extended by one more lane in the future.

All the three sub-sections should be completed within 34 months (excluding winter periods from December 15th until March 15th). Drivers will be able to use the new route in spring 2021. The S19 forms part of the Via Carpathia route, linking Lithuania with Greece, through Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria.
