Serenada opens up in Kraków

 Serenada opens up in Kraków
The mall was recently purchased by NEPI Rockcastle
POLAND The Serenada shopping centre on ul. Bora Komorowskiego in Kraków has opened in an investment of EUR 140 mln.

The building has 42,000 sqm of retail space and 160 stores and is nearly fully leased with only four units and a total retail space of 450 sqm still available. The tenants include LPP-owned stores, H&M and the region’s first full-format Zara store, owned by Spanish fashion giant Inditex. It will have an area of 3,500 sqm on two floors. The centre will also have stores by leading US fashion brand Forever 21, British brand New Look and German brand Van Graaf, which will open a store with an area of 2,100 sqm having already negotiated an increase in the size of its lease. A number of tenants re-negotiated their lease contracts when Mayland purchased the Krokus shopping centre in March 2016, including footwear retailer CCC brand has decided to double the size of its store area, and Martes Sport store which leased an additional 500 sqm to open a 1,200 sqm store. The grocery anchor is Piotr i Paweł. Mayland Real Estate has recently sold the shopping centre together with nearby Krokus mall to NEPI Rockcastle but remains centre manager for both facilities. By 2020 Krokus is to be redeveloped so that together with Serenada, it will operate as one centre. “Serenada is not only a modern retail centre but also a new-generation mall that will meet numerous other needs. After being integrated with an existing shopping complex, an indoor aquapark and a Multikino multiplex, it will not only become an important retail centre in Krakow, but also in the entire Małopolska region,” said Maciej Kiełbicki, the managing director of Mayland Real Estate. Around 200 trees and shrubs were planted in Skalskiego park as part of the development of the mall and the work also included the creation of a new playground for a local primary school. The cost of redeveloping the surround area came to PLN 150,000.
