KNT is to be situated in Zamienie on Warsaw's southern outskirts
POLAND The Campus of New Technologies (KNT) in Warsaw has received a subsidy of PLN 83 mln from the Regional Operational Programme of the Masovian Province 2014–2020.

KNT (or Kampus+) will be used for the development and testing of innovations in the field of user’s real surroundings (the living lab). The complex is to be made up of a dozen or so buildings and public spaces located in redeveloped areas owned by the Warsaw University of Technology in Zamienie near Warsaw. The total useable area of the project comes to more than 300,000 sqm.

The Warsaw University of Technology’s project is being developed in a consortium that includes: the Centre for the Management of Innovations and Technology Transfer, the Cezamat Centre for Advanced Materials and Technology, Willson & Brown and Pro Development (the operator). The financial contribution of the members of the consortium for the project amounts to almost PLN 40 mln. They will also be transferring the ownership of the plots where the living lab is to be developed in Zamienie.

Eleven other business partners are also involved in drawing up the research agenda of the Campus of New Technologies. These include such companies as Samsung, Polska Grupa Energetyczna, Somfy, ML System, Swegon and Nowy Styl. The partners are all interested in working on innovative technological projects in specialisations that include smart cities, smart buildings, smart homes and factory 4.0. Their involvement in the KNT project will enable them to shorten the time from the ‘concept to the production.

The opening of the centre has been scheduled for 2020.
