Jatomi to close down

POLAND Pure Heath & Fitness, the owner of the Jatomi Fitness chain of fitness clubs, is leaving Poland. According to the company’s website there are now 35 clubs in the chain located in shopping centres across Poland.

“Pure Heath & Fitness (Jatomi) is currently in liquidation. We are negotiating with landlords and other fitness operators with a view to either reassigning the lease, or in worst-case scenario; to closing the club,” Trevor Brennan, CEO of Jatomi Fitness told 'Eurobuild CEE'.

The main reason behind Jatomi’s decision is the growing competition on the market. "The mid-market is becoming increasingly squeezed in Poland through price-sensitive competition. The ageing estate and associated high fixed costs means that the business is unable to meet the obvious cash requirements by which to remain a viable investment,” he explains and adds that Jatomi is discussing the transfer of leases to other fitness operators. “Landlords reserve the right to refuse the lease transfer, but we hope that they accept our proposals to ensure that jobs, fitness communities and strong shopping centre footfall remains,” says Trevor Brennan..

Jatomi Fitness runs clubs in six Warsaw shopping centres including Blue City, Galeria Rembielińska, Targówek, Zodiak, Atrium Promenada and Sadyba Best Mall. Other centres include Alfa Białystok, Agora Bytom, Klif Gdynia, Szperk Forum Gliwice, Silesia City Center, Supersam in Katowice, Galeria Echo, Korona Kielca, Manufaktura in Łódź, Cuprum Arena in Lublin, Lublin Plaza, Avenida, Malta and Pestka in Poznań, Kosmos and Atrium Koszalin, Galeria Kazimierz, Bonarka City Center and Angel City in Kraków, Mazovia and Atrium Mosty in Płock, Renoma, Pasaż Grunwaldzki, Magnolia Park and Kaskada in Szczecin.
