Eurobuild CEE 11 January 2018
Księży Młyn to be revitalised
The project's completion is scheduled for 2021

POLAND The city of Łódź has begun another stage of the revitalisation of the Księży Młyn complex of cotton mills and is applying for EU subsidies for the project.

The total value of work will come to PLN 59 mln, of which PLN 39 mln is to be subsidised by the EU. Thirteen properties are to be revitalised including eleven owned by the city, one owned by a housing association and a privately held property. “This is the first project in the province for which the public sector together with private funds has applied for EU subsidies at the disposal of the Provincial Marshal’s Office,” explains Hanna Zdanowska, the mayor of Łódź. The revitalisation project will cover a public space of around 4.7 ha, where cobblestoned and green areas are to be restored, new pavements, cycle paths and a car park will be created. The city will organise 14 creative workshops for the project in one of the buildings. Three urban properties will be renovated with their residents to be temporarily relocated during the work, which should take three years commencing in Q2 2018 with completion scheduled for 2021.
