The new retail park-style mall in Tolyatti has received a BREEAM 'Very Good' certificate
RUSSIA Aquarelle in Tolyatti (Samara oblast) has become the first shopping centre in Russia to receive a BREEAM New Construction 2013 certificate with a ‘Very Good’ rating.

This project, which is owned by Immochan Russia, is the first property to be certified in the city and was rated highly in all key categories: energy and water saving, transport accessibility and management). The certification process was carried out by JLL.

The 41,100 sqm gla retail park opened in the city centre in April, 2017. Its energy efficiency was assessed to by 23 pct higher than the ASHRAE 90.1 baseline, while its water efficiency was 60 pct greater than local norms – and both have been separately metered. The car park’s drains are purified by local treatment facilities and ozone-safe coolants are used. The first-ever separate waste collection scheme in the city has been introduced at the mall. International best practice accessibility has been provided for the disabled. And alternative modes of transport to the centre are encouraged instead of private cars, among other sustainability features.

According to Ksenia Tskhovrebova, the technical director for the construction of key projects at Immochan Russia: “We are here not merely to build high-quality, professional retail real estate, but to create a new lifestyle for Russians. Aquarelle is introducing advanced technology to make the centre comfortable and ensure a positive experience for all consumer categories. For instance, we have provided point-of-use water coolers for all guests and a BMS system for CO2 control and adequate air exchange; all the lightning is LED with parameters close to natural.”
