Krystian Herba is a world-record holding, tower-climbing cyclist
POLAND Krystian Herba, the world record holder for riding a bicycle up stairs, is to cycle to the 37th floor of the Rondo 1 office building during the 8th Rondo 1 Run Up to be held on February 24th.

The money raised from entrance fees will – as in previous years – be donated to the SOS Children’s Villages Association in Poland. The event will have 120 points in the Towerrunning Tour 2018, making it one of the most important races in the series organised by the Towerrunning World Association. “We want the Run to the Top of Rondo 1 to contribute something new every year. Two years ago, our event was included in the European Towerrunning Championship. Last year we ran in the evening for the first time and as a result our contestants could admire the evening Warsaw skyline from the height of the 37th floor. This time, we’ve decided to include something spectacular. After all, you don’t often see someone jumping on two wheels up one of the highest buildings in the world,” says Piotr Jakóbik, the media spokesman for the Run to the Top of Rondo 1. “My goal is to jump to the top of Rondo 1 in under 20 minutes,“ says Krystian Herba, who is a five-time Guinness world-record holder for climbing up tall buildings on a bicycle. So far, he has reached the top of 13 buildings in ten countries. In 2009, he climbed the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, which took him 19 minutes and 15 seconds. He has also climbed Willis Tower in Chicago, Taipei 101 in Taiwan and the Chinese Shanghai World Financial Center. Currently, he holds the Guinness record for the number of stairs climbed on a bicycle in one go (3,461) as well as for the number of stairs climbed on a bicycle within one minute (119).
