EU funds planetarium

Eurobuild CEE 01 February 2018
POLAND A planetarium to be built in Gdańsk will receive PLN 15 mln funding from EU subsidies from the European Regional Development Fund.

The funds are to be used for the extension and redevelopment of the southern caponier building which is part of the Fort Góra Gradowa complex as well as the reconstruction of a section of the Carnot’s wall. The investment costs for the project will come to almost PLN 21.8 mln with the work to start in mid-2018 and finish in 2020. “The planetarium will be the only place of its kind in Gdańsk and we hope that it will become a big attraction. We have been continually looking for how to extend the Centrum Hewelianum fort property while modernising its facilities to combine the existing historic buildings with exhibition space and teaching rooms in one coherent complex,” says Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, the deputy mayor of Gdańsk responsible for economic policy.
