POLAND Supermarket chain E.Leclerc has recorded a turnover of PLN 2.8 bln in Poland for 2017.

Last year the company also opened a number of new stores. “We are happy with our turnover for 2017, particularly since the last three years have been a period of deflation on the food market, which over 2016 did not coincide in our case with a growing range of products. The results not only show the strengthening of E.Leclerc Polska, but also demonstrate that we have chosen the right development strategy. We intend to continue to offer a wide range of products to our customers with a strong emphasis on promotions, and to expand our operations to new locations,” says Jean-Philippe Magré, the president of E.Leclerc Polska.

In 2017, E.Leclerc Polska opened stores in Tarnów, Nowy Targ, Zakopane as well as E.Leclerc Express stores in Zbylitowska Góra and Tarnowiec. Currently the chain comprises 49 stores in 44 cities across 15 provinces. Last year, the company placed a bid with the Commercial Court in Kraków to buy the assets of the bankrupt Alma chain of delicatessens. In 2017 the chain also reorganised both its IT and logistics operations to improve the operational efficiency of its sales points. The chain is also planning to open more filling stations next to many of its hypermarkets.
