Makeover for Galeria Sfera
The shopping centre in Bielsko-Biała was added to CBRE GI's portfolio at the end of 2015
POLAND Renovation work is being carried out on the Galeria Sfera shopping centre in Bielsko-Biała.

The work, which should be completed by mid-2018, is to be divided into four stages. The first stage is nearing completion and involves changes to the appearance of Galeria Sfera I: refurbishing the walls, the ceilings, replacing the outdoor furniture and the partial replacement of the lighting. This work is designed to adapting the older part of the building to the newer section – Galeria Sfera II. Work has already begun on the second stage, improvements to the multi-storey car park of Galeria Sfera II. CBRE Global Investors, the owner of the centre, has opted to repaint the walls and pillars, the marking of areas and to install a vacant space information system, among other improvements.

A tender is to take place to choose a company to install new zone marking inside Galeria Sfera to improve the communication and navigation around the mall. Staircases are to be made available to relieve the pressure on the lifts. New illuminated marketing communication tools are also to replace existing media. Other improvements will be along the lines of the family-oriented strategy adopted by the management of the centre. The refurbishment of the parents with children rooms is to start soon, while the toilets and washing facilities will be adapted for children and a separate play area is to be created in the food court of Galeria Sfera II.

“From the moment we acquired this centre, our intention was to maintain the attractiveness of Galeria Sfera in the eyes of customers and tenants through modernisation that reflected market trends and expectations. The centre, which registered almost 13 mln visits last year, is the leading centre in the Podbeskidzie region; however, changes are necessary maintain the position it has achieved over the years,” explains Karel Zeman, the director of CBRE Global Investors Polska.

Galeria Sfera became part of CBRE Global Investors’ portfolio at the end of 2015. The mall, which opened in 2001, comprises 250 stores, restaurants and service units as well as a music club, a four-star hotel, warehouses and office space.
