POLAND In 2017, Apsys Polska signed up 420 tenants and leased out 71,000 sqm in the centres it manages.

“It was a busy year for the Apsys Polska leasing department. We concluded the highest number of negotiations with tenants in Q3 and leased out about 20,000 sqm of retail space. Out of the 420 lease agreements signed throughout 2017, around 170 were extensions. New tenants included Italian fashion brand Pinko, which the customers of Posnania had long been waiting for, the largest Starbucks café in Poland and a new Decathlon store concept in Manufaktura. Many of the brands that we signed up last year come from the catering and entertainment sectors. With current market trends, such tenants are becoming more and more important for today's customers who are looking for places to spend their free time,” says Marek Błędowski, the commercial director of Apsys Polska.

Maxi-Cosi, a producer of child seats, has signed a lease in the Galeria Katowicka mall. Whiskey In The Jar opened a restaurant in the Manufaktura centre in Łódź and a Loake shoe store debuted in Poznań in the Posnania centre. Apsys Polska currently manages a leasable area of 1 mln sqm in 24 shopping centres in 17 Polish cities. “Apsys helps older generation shopping centres with their recommercialisation and tailoring them to meet the needs of the local market. We encourage the tenants to introduce their new showroom concepts to these centres and offer an ever wider range of services that are not available online. We recommend that owners modernise in order to find more space for the food and entertainment,” says Sylwia Surman, an associate director at Apsys Polska.
