Zabrze lights up the world
Warehouse & industrialFor Krakow, IPB Decoration has created four trees, including an 18-metre-tall fir with over 40,000 lights and light decorations in the shape of bows, angels and sweets. IPB Decoration has also made a city decoration for Opole. Furthermore, light illuminations and Christmas trees from Zabrze can be found this year in Wodzisław Śląski, Dąbrowa Górnicza, Rybnik, Gliwice and in several malls, including Warsaw's Arkadia and Galeria Mokotów. A 10-metre Christmas tree was hung under the ceiling in the latter one. It is also the first in Poland illumination in a mall, which is visible with equal strength after dark and during the day, emphasizes IPB Decoration. Work on some decorations, which have just ornamented cities and malls, lasted up to a year in Zabrze. “Creating illumination is a tedious process because the decorations are made by us manually. Almost every ornament goes through five departments. First, a steel or aluminium structure is created, then needles are assembled, then the decoration goes to the florists and finally to the electricians. Sometimes 10-15 people work on one decoration, for example Santa Claus’ sleigh. Five of them on a simple reindeer. A Christmas tree in Krakow was assembled by 20 people, and work on it lasted four months. Arkadia’s decorations were created for six months,” says Ewa Marcinek, artistic director at IPB Decoration from Zabrze. In 2016 IPB created ornaments in the shape of suitcases and trunks of travellers for the airport in Balice while for the Blue City mall in Warsaw, a decoration in the shape of a spiral Milky Way with planets was created. A decoration consisting of three dragons was designed for the Bronowice mall in Kraków, of which two were ‘flying’ over the heads of customers. In 2016 the company created light tunnels on the market square in Katowice and 3D stars with a height of a few meters in Bytom while Szczecin got a globe-shaped decoration. Illuminations produced in Zabrze appeared on London's Oxford Street, in the shopping centre near the Louvre, at the Christmas market in Japan, in banks in Brazil and Australia, or for the Mall of Africa in South Africa, where decoration referred to the culture of the continent. This year, decorations from the factory in Zabrze flew to: Colombia, Greece, Finland, Australia, Morocco and Russia. IPB Decoration from Zabrze is a company with over 25 years of experience, it specializes in decorations and illuminations for shopping malls, urban space and municipal facilities as well as events.
