HUNGARY Strabag has begun construction work on a 20.5 km section of the M85 expressway in a contract worth HUF 51.9 bln (app. EUR 167 mln).
The work is to be completed in 36 months. The road between the city of Sopron and the town of Csorna has been divided into four construction sections with Strabag’s Austrian and Hungarian subsidiaries in a consortium with Belfry PE being responsible for the stretch between Csorna and Fertőd-Endrédmajor. The road will be a dual carriageway with two lanes in each direction as well as 18 bridges. “The further expansion of the M85 will shorten the travel time between Győr and Sopron. We are pleased to be able to follow up the work on the Csorna bypass last year by participating in this new project,” says Thomas Birtel, the CEO of Strabag SE.
