Permission for modern art
The first design for the project was revealed in 2015
POLAND The final building permit has been issued for the project to build the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, which is to be built in front of the Palace of Culture and Science facing onto ul. Marszałkowska.

The tender to select the general contractor has already been launched, with the final decision probably to be made in September. City officials hope to get the construction work going this year. The museum building as well as the new home of Teatr R are to be opened in December 2021. According to the city, the ownership of the site has now been settled.

The architectural competition for the design of the museum was won by the Thomas Phifer and Partners studio. The Polish partner of TPaP is the APA Wojciechowski studio. ECM Group Polska in a consortium with Portico Project Management is involved in the project as the contract engineer. Engineering support for the project is being provided by Polish firm Buro Happold. According to Thomas Phifer, the architecture of the project will complement the retail buildings on the other side of ul. Marszałkowska. The interiors are to be dominated by concrete elements and white finishes.
