R6 design unveiled
Four floors of the building will be available to tenants
POLAND The investor behind the R6 cultural and culinary centre, which is to be built at ul. Ratuszowa 6 in Warsaw’s Praga-Północ district, has unveiled the design of the building.

Construction work is due to start this year. The 2,600 sqm building will be located on a rectangular plot of almost 0.44 ha in a park facing onto ul. Ratuszowa. The architectural style of R6 is to reflect that of the atmosphere of old Praga. The investor intends to use elements from traditional Praga buildings, such as the original brick, steel industrial frames, stairs, old lifts and decorative elements from former factories in the district. The walls of the building are to be decorated with murals. R6 is to feature a variety of culinary attractions, including restaurants, cafés and organic and speciality food stands. It will also be a venue for cultural and outdoor events, as well as art previews, exhibitions of young artists, lectures on design, art and culture, training and healthy lifestyle classes and culinary workshops. Concerts are to be held in cooperation with Praga-Północ district in a concert shell next to the planned centre.

“We want to create a new venue, a kind of alternative to Hala Koszyki, Koneser or Nowe Powiśle. It should become iconic and transform the area. We want to create a true art incubator, generate extraordinary culinary ideas and provide space for young artists,” explains Marcin Marcinkiewicz, a representative of the investor.

Talks over the first potential leases of the space are already under way. There will be four floors available to tenants – three above ground and one underground. The basement has an area of 652 sqm. Most of the space will be on the ground floor (887 sqm) and on the first floor (745 sqm), while the second level will be 347 sqm. The MedFood Healthy Market, which has been organised in cooperation with MedFood, is to open on the site even before the official start of the construction work. It will be aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle, the sale of health food and holding training and conferences about health issues.

R6 has been designed by Weronika Wójcik
