The centre will provide facilities for more than 15,000 students over an area of 7 ha
LATVIA University Of Latvia is to construct the Academic Centre City with a planned opening dat set for 2025.

The centre will provide facilities for more than 15,000 students, studying in 13 faculties over an area of 7 ha. Three academic buildings will provide 70,000 sqm of useable space while student accommodation and apartments will take up another 30,000 sqm. There will also be sports facilities, as well as a centre for technology and business incubators.

Work on the project began in 2014 and now three academic buildings have been built with a total of 20,000 sqm has been built and work on further buildings is underway. The project, which has investment cost of EUR 220 mln, is scheduled for completion in 2025.

While the Academic Centre is under development, the University of Latvia is open to negotiate various public-private partnership arrangements for the development of facilities such as student housing, technology centres, business incubators, and sports faciities.

The faculties that will be moved to the new buildings are now located in the city centre of Riga. The historic buildings are to be sold in 2019 and 2022.
