Sporty school for booming district
The new school is scheduled to open in September 2019
POLAND Budrem-Rybak is to construct a primary and nursery school with a sports complex in the Chwarzno-Wiczlino district of Gdynia.
The project, which will include a sports hall with sports fields and related infrastructure, will cost over PLN 69.7 mln.

“This is an extremely important project in the district that has seen the most rapid growth in the city’s population. This is where young families move to and need to be provided with suitable infrastructure. We aim to provide the right conditions in the district for the education of children from nursery school to secondary school,” explains Marek Stępa, the deputy mayor of Gdynia for development.

A school for 650 children together with a sports hall and a nursery school for around 200 children is to be built on a vacant plot near ul. Wiczlińska and ul. Filipkowskiego. The sports infrastructure will include a basketball court and a football pitch. The school will also contain a library, day-care rooms, computer rooms and a dinner hall. A canteen will also be built next to it.

The school building will be connected to a sports hall with an indoor pitch measuring 20 by 40m and seating for 250 people. A multifunctional hall with a fold-out stand will also be built. Both rooms will be equipped with facilities for the hearing-impaired and two lifts specially for people with reduced mobility. It will also have a green roof with solar panels. The nursery school will also be equipped with lifts for the disabled and solar roof panels, along with playgrounds and sandpits.

The local road infrastructure will also be improved as part of the project. A section of ul. Wiczlińska and ul. Filipkowskiego is to be resurfaced, given new lighting and a bicycle path. Bus stops are to be moved nearer the school. The local authorities have already signed the contract, which should be carried out by June 2019, ready for its first pupils two months later.
