The project involves the construction of a 2 km stretch of underground railway along with two stations in the western Wola and Bemowo districts of the city by 2023. A station under the working name of ‘Wola Park’ is to be located under ul. Górczewska close to ul. Białowiejska, while Powstańców Śląskich station will also be situated under ul. Górczewska, but on the eastern side of ul. Powstańców Śląskich. This is the shortest of the planned sections of M2, the second line of the Warsaw underground. Bids are to be accepted until May 25th 2018 and the contractor will have 38 months from the date of signing the contract to complete the work.
“We are building and still looking for contractors for each section of this highly efficient mode of transport,” declared Warsaw mayor Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz.
A 3.4 km section, including the stations, Płock (C08), Młynów (C07) and Księcia Janusza (C06), is currently under construction west of the Rondo Daszyńskiego roundabout closer to the city centre. A 3.12 km section with three stations is also under construction in the eastern Praga Północ and Targówek districts. The stations are Szwedzka (C16), Targówek (C17) and Trocka (C18). Both projects should be completed next year.
At the end of March, bids closed for the contract to build the final right-bank section of the M2. The 4 km stretch of track includes three stations: C19 (Zacisze), beneath ul. Figara near the junction with ul. Codzienna; C20 (Kondratowicza), under the junction of ul. Malborska and ul. L. Kondratowicza; and C21 (Bródno), under ul. L. Kondratowicza and ul. Rembielińska.
Meanwhile, the two bids submitted for the design and construction of the end section of the second line of the underground in the west of the city – in Bemowo district, between the planned Powstańców Śląskich station and the Mory maintenance depot (a route of about 4 km) – are now being analysed. The three stations to be built in this section are C03 (Lazurowa), C02 (Chrzanów) and C01 (Połczyńska). An area of 26 ha is also to be developed on ul. Połczyńska, close to the Institute of Power Engineering for the Mory depot, which will comprise parking and service halls, warehouses and technical facilities for the second metro line. The contractor will have 50 months from the date of signing the contract for the execution of all the work.
