Vastint buys Poznań abattoir
The original slaughterhouse was built at the turn of the 19th century
POLAND Vastint Poland has acquired the historic Slaughterhouse quarter (Rzeźnia Miejska) in Poznań.

The developer is planning to transform the 5.5 ha site into a mixed-use complex with a leasable area of app. 70,000 sqm. The original abattoir on ul. Garbary, ul. Grochowe Łąki and ul. Północna was opened in 1900 and closed in the 1990s.

“The buildings from the turn of the 19th century, including the main hall, the boiler house, the machine room and the water tower, will remain on the site and will make up a central part of the new concept. Publicly accessible space is to be created here to be used for commercial, artistic and exhibition purposes. The remaining part of the plot will be set aside mainly for residential use with some retail space. The work on preparing the concept and design will take two years and I trust that the final concept will be given a warm welcome by the residents of Poznań,” believes Roger Andersson, the managing director of Vastint Poland.
