AmRest sees 30 pct revenue increase

EUROPE Wrocław-based fast-food operator AmRest has recorded EUR 347.3 mln in revenue for the first quarter of 2018.

That represents a 30.8 pct increase y-o-y. Revenue, when adjusted to account for all mergers and acquisitions in 2017 (including the purchase of KFC and Pizza Hut in Germany, KFC in Russia and Pizzaportal.pl in Poland) came to EUR 301 mln, up by14.4 pct over the year. Net profit increased by 7.6 pct to EUR 5.1 mln.

“The Q1 2018 results were mainly driven by the solid performance of our core business. Our restaurants in the Czech Republic continued increasing both their sales and their profitability with a 37.4 pct growth in EBITDA and an EBITDA margin close to 20 pct in Q1 2018. In other Central European markets, we were able to partially offset rising labour costs, mostly through savings made in the price of food. (…) Russia saw outstanding results, with EBITDA growing by 78 pct to EUR 4.4 mln and the EBITDA margin again reaching a double digits (11.2 pct in Q1 2018). In Germany, we managed to reduce our EBITDA loss by EUR 2m in Q1 2018, through making significant progress in integrating the Starbucks chain,” said Michał Sewatka, investor relations and M&A director.

The company aims to double the size of its business in three years through organic growth, digital innovation and potential acquisitions. Over 300 openings are planned for 2018 alone.
