The mall is scheduled for completion in H1 2019
ROMANIA Developer Nova Imobiliare has announced that it will extend the Colosseum Retail Park by 16,500 sqm with the construction of the Colosseum Mall in North West Bucharest.

The shopping centre is to be built in an investment of EUR 30 mln and 75 pct of the available space is already under negotiation. Work is to start later this year and the opening is scheduled for H1 2019.

“We are going through a more mature retail market and the development of Colosseum Retail Park is taking place due to the good results achieved in the recent years and, at the same time, because of the increasing demand for commercial space in this area of the capital. Our project enjoys the support of both retailers and shoppers. Our goal is to strengthen and reaffirm the strategic position that Colosseum Retail Park currently has as the main commercial destination in North-West Bucharest,” says Mihai Dinu, the centre manager of the park.

“Colosseum Mall will be opened in the first half of 2019, bringing a new modern retail concept to the sophisticated Bucharest market. We aim to provide our visitors excellent experiences in leisure including fast food and restaurants, and fashion provided by the most reputable operators in the market, today. We have received affirmative answers from the largest fashion and leisure retailers. Romanian multiplex cinema operator Happy Cinema, and Romania’s biggest fitness operator “World Class”, the biggest fitness operatorin Romania, will complete the leisure component of the mall. We will announce shortly all our partners in this exciting new and modern project,” says Doinita Ilie, a leasing manager at JLL, which is the consultancy responsible for the management of the centre.

Additionally 1,500 sqm of office space is to be built intended mainly for the use of healthcare providers. The car park is also to be expanded to 2,760 spaces, which is room enough for a further 750 vehicles including a number of electric charging stations and spaces for the disabled.

Last year a number of new tenants entered the park including Sport Vision, the largest shop from Romania (900 sqm), LCWaikiki (1,300 sqm) and Pepco (450 sqm) and as a result the park is currently 100 pct occupied.

over the past two years, the footfall has increased by 15 pct to reach almost 5 mln visitors annually. Other tenants includ Altex, Carrefour , Jysk and Leroy Merlin.
