POLAND The Air Traffic Control Center in Poznań is to be built by the Poznań and Warsaw branches of Hochtief Polska for the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA).
The contract is worth over PLN 85 mln net. The design work is to be completed in 2018 and construction work will start soon afterwards. The contract includes the design and construction of the centre, the demolition of existing structures, the modernisation of a 24m tower, the construction of an access road as well as of a car park with at least 120 spaces. The total area of the new buildings will come to nearly 10,000 sqm. The investor has specified that BIM (Building Information Modelling) is to be used for the design. The centre is to be built on ul. Radarowa next to Poznań-Ławica Airport, where the Hochtief was previously responsible for the modernisation and extension of the passenger terminal between 2011 and 2013.
PANSA is the only organisation in Poland that trains and employs civil air traffic controllers. It operates 15 airport control towers and controls four airport approaches as well as one area control centre, which handles over 80 pct of all air traffic in Poland.
