POLAND/HUNGARY Strabag wins contracts in Poland and Hungary worth around EUR 170 mln.

Strabag’s Polish subsidiary has been awarded another contract to construct a section of the A1 motorway in Poland. Strabag is leading a consortium (92 pct) with Poland’s Budimex. The 17 km long section C begins at the Kamieńsk junction and ends at Radomsko it is also to build a junction. The total value of the design-and-build contract comes to EUR 133 mln. Construction is to begin before the end of the year, with the work to take no longer than 32 months. The motorway section to be built will have two carriageways each with three lanes as well as 16 bridges and three rest areas. “Just one month ago, we added a 16 km long section of the A1 to our order books. That order is also a design-and-build contract, which means that we can already start applying our know-how at the design phase,” says Thomas Birtel, the CEO of Strabag SE.

In Hungary Strabag has been picked to build a new factory for Swiss automotive supplier Rehau in Újhartyán. The 63,000 sqm centre will produce exterior body parts such as bumpers and spoilers. Work will start in September and is expected to be completed after 15 months of construction. The contract is worth EUR 50 mln. “We have a long-standing partnership with Rehau. In 2012, we handed over a new factory building in Győr after a construction time of just five months. This year, we’ve completed the expansion of that same facility. We are proud that Rehau has decided to again place its trust in us with its latest project,” says Thomas Birtel, CEO of Strabag SE.
