Corning opens new Stryków plant
The new facility has taken eight months to complete
POLAND A 39,200 sqm production and warehouse facility has been built for fibre optic cable manufacturer Corning Optical Communications in Segro Logistics Park Stryków.
The official opening of the facility, which took eight months to build, took place on September 27th. It comprises three-level offices with a glazed façade and an anti-reflective coating to prevent overheating.

The concept for the offices was based on an employee analysis carried out by Corning aimed at maximising their convenience and safety. The finishing materials used were also selected for greater comfort and better acoustics. The production hall is air-conditioned while the warehouse has insulated docks. LED lighting has been fitted and the building is designed for the needs of the disabled. It also has privileged parking spaces for car sharing schemes. The facility will undergo BREEAM certification with a projected rating of ‘Very Good’.

“The EMEA region is one of the main areas of development for our company, so we decided to expand our Polish branch and increase the production capacity in Stryków. We are satisfied with the quality of the new building and the short project construction time. We hope that this will translate not only into the strengthening of our position as a market leader but also as an attractive employer,” explains Mariusz Bielawski, the director of the plant and a board member of Corning Optical Communications Polska.

According to Magdalena Szulc, Segro’s director for Central Europe, Stryków and the wider Łódź region are the perfect location for business development. “We are pleased that we could develop this innovative project for our first client in Stryków,” emphasises Magdalena Szulc.

Corning Optical Communications Polska is currently one of Segro’s largest tenants in terms of space occupied. It operates over a total of 82,200 sqm in two warehousing and production buildings.

Segro manages a portfolio of properties comprising 6.9 mln sqm and worth more than GBP 10 bln.
